Respawn is losing a creative director. Mohammed Alvi made the announcement on social media That he is leaving the studio to pursue his “next adventure”. Alavi has spent his career in Infinity Ward and Response Entertainment, and is best known as a Russian designer in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Most recently, he worked as a creative director on Respon’s next big secret project. According to people familiar with the game, the studio has no plans to scrap the work. Publisher Electronic Arts expects to launch it in 2024 or 2025.

Respawn has confirmed the small news about Alvi’s game. This is the third project with a sequel to Apex Legends Continuum and Star Wars JD: Fallen Order. The studio has previously stated that it is a single-player adventure. In addition to those details, I’ve learned that it’s a first-person shooter with Triple-A ambitions, and the design team strives for “mobility” and “style” as guiding principles.

However, this third game is not a sequel to Titanfall 1 and 2.

Respawn will continue to spend next year or more prototyping concepts for its new game. It will then make the work into a final product.

For Alavi, he says this is the “end of the age.” He didn’t say where he was going, but the industry is full of cash right now. Big companies are building new studios and investors are also backing proven creators with big checks for big bets.

In this environment, it is more common for major creators to pursue better opportunities than ever before. And few studios have more proven creators than Respawn.
