Solar roofing provider GAF Energy announced today that its timberline solar product uses solar shingles that you can nail to the roof.
GAF Energy, a division of Standard Industries, has developed a solar roofing system that is easily integrated into traditional roofing processes in materials because of what it calls the first “nalable” solar shingle, the Timberline Solar Energy shingle, to be assembled locally at GAF. Energy production and R&D facility in San Jose, California. The company showed up at the CES 2022 trade event in Las Vegas.
The project will create Native American jobs and hopefully create more demand for residential clean energy. One of the challenges so far has been the need to place solar tiles on a platform that is attached to the roof, which complicates the installation of a solar roof more than placing it on a traditional roof.
The company said Timberline Solar is reliable, durable, cost-effective, easy to install and aesthetically pleasing. It is less than a quarter-inch thick, and integrates with a conventional staircase.
More than five million new roofs are installed on U.S. homes each year. One in four of these roofs comes from GAF, a sister company of GAF Energy and the largest roofing and waterproofing company in North America.
“Solar roofs are the future of clean energy, and Timberline Solar is a game-changing innovation that will get us there,” said Martin DeBono, president of GAF Energy, in a statement. “At GAF Energy, we have the ability to measure. This technology is unmatched by anyone else through GAF, which brings an integrated solar product for homeowners across the country that is weatherproof, affordable and designed. We are excited to lead the next generation in adopting clean energy.” We are. ”
With access to GAF’s national contractor network, GAF Energy said it is located to bring residential solar to the mass market, converting more roofs into solar roofs each year.
“Since we launched GAF Energy in 2019, our mission has been to realize our vision of a progressive mass-market solar roof,” said David Winter and David Milston, co-CEOs of Standard. What the team has achieved is not extraordinary. Industries, in a statement. “Through our national roof network, world-class talent and aggressive investment in research and development, the standard family of companies will transform the solar industry.”
In September 2021, Timberline Solar received UL 7103 certification, authorizing GAF Energy to install systems on residential roofs as roof production and solar power generation.
In addition, GAF Energy has partnered with the U.S. to test product strength, durability, and overall market readiness. Worked with the Department of Energy Research and Development Laboratories, Sandia National Laboratories.
